Siging Off

Or on. Depending on how you want to look at it.

Not that I have anything current to show, but when I do you can find it here - at my new blog.

Thanks for having me, Elaine. It's been fun!!

Weekend Agenda

We're heading up to Grandma's this Friday evening, Mom, Laura, Charles, and I. I am so excited to get back into the crocheting grove by completing some smaller projects while we're there!

The plan:
Finish crocheting the bear. Possibly stuff him and finish completely.
Finish Charles' booties. Maybe do a second pair, to really get it down.
Finish green and rose afghan squares.

I think that's it. So exciting...

Pointy Hat

Here is the new hat. I put earflaps on this one too - to make sure his little ears stay warm and the hat stays on.

Okay, pattern time:
Using worsted weight yarn and size 8 mm hook.
Chain 2.
Single crochet four times in second chain from hook.
(Place a marker in the last stitch of this round and each new round.)
Round 2 - sc without making any increases (4 stitches)
Round 3 - Increase by making 2 sc in each stitch (8 stitches)
Round 4 - sc in the first stitch, 2 sc in the next stitch, repeat all the way around to the stitch marker (12 stitches)
Round 5 - sc in the first two stitches, 2 sc in the third all the way around (16 stitches)
Round 6 - 2 sc in every 4th stitch (20 stitches)
Round 7 - 2 sc in every 5th stitch (24 stitches)
Round 8 - 2 sc in every 6th stitch (28 stitches)
Continue increasing in this manner, until the hat looks like it will fit your child. (For Charles I continued to round 14, ending with 52 stitches.)
When it is large enough, stop increasing and just single crochet in each stitch for as many rounds as it take to cover your child's head (Charles' hat was 10 rounds without increases).

Earflaps
Row 1 - sc in the next 8 stitches, ch 1, turn work.
Row 2 - sc over the first 8 stitches
Row 3 - decrease by crocheting the first two stitches of the row together and the last two stiches of the row together (6 stitches)
Continue decreasing on every other row until there are just two stitches left in the row. Then chain stitch to make the ties, about 20-25 chain stitches.
Begin the second earflap, in the same manner on the opposite side of the hat.
Wah-lah!

I've never written out a pattern before....hope that all makes some sort of sense!

Looky

I'm learning to knit.
Kinda.
I'll take pictures of my pieces of crocheted bear later. Annie has offered me some possible stuffing, so soon he'll be a real bear. Bright and blue.
Oh, I'll also take a picture of the new hat I made for Charles last night. I like making hats for him because they're small enough that I can finish them in one night, so I can quickly see the product of my creativity. Immediate gratification.

Yoo-who

Miss Elaine!!! If you don't get posting something, you're going to have to retitle this blog "Crocheting with Anne Marie"!

:o) I miss you and your posts!

At Least Something is Completed

Our model is not only sporting his first homemade hat complete with earflaps but a smile to boot! How 'bout that!

So everything else went on hold last night to get this hat crocheted for our outing today. The bear is on hold indefinitely until I get some stuffing for his head. I started the patchwork afghan and I've chosen it's receipent - which means there's a deadline of sorts.
I am really, really enjoying this crafting! Oh and I checked Knitting for Dummies from the library but I'm not sure if that will be enough instruction to teach me...

Multiplicity

I also started a bright blue bear last night.

Possibly not a good a idea?

Also, I've got these three beautiful colors: country rose, country blue and cilantro that I am dying to make into a beautiful patchwork afghan. Problem: I only have one skein of each. While I'm sure that I could get more of the country colors, I'm pretty sure that the cilantro has been discontinued. I could try to match it or just get a color similiar to it...

Mmmm...
