Knitter's stash

Geez, blogger has been weird lately. I couldn't load the page or sign in. Grr!
Anne, I am having similar problems right now. I stupidly signed up for 22 credit hours this semester, and I cannot find enough time to knit! Last semester I had enough free time to knit for up to 3 hours a night, which I realize is excessive. But now I'm lucky if I get to knit for a half hour a day! My stress level is through the roof right now, and what I really need is a little more knitting time.
I am still working on the blue preemie blanket, although I suspect with a little time management I could finish it this week.
There is nothing I like more than knitting socks. I was so afraid of trying it because it involved four needles, but it is more theraupeutic knitting anything else. I was able to use worsted weight for the first pair of socks I made, so you might be able to find a pattern that calls for worsted weight yarn, which is what I am assuming you have in your stash.
Speaking of stashes, I have vowed not to buy any yarn for the rest of the semester(except maybe a little for a pair of socks for Kyle). I have established such a yarn stash that I could easily knit from it for that long. Maybe it will last even longer with my limited knitting time. I taught a friend how to crochet recently, so I pulled out my stash to offer her some yarn to take home. I was actually embarrassed by how much yarn I had. It filled up almost all the free floor space in the living room. I think we could have swam in the pile, no kidding! Anyway I figured I better use it up before I bought more. Besides, I spent WAY too much money on Christmas, so I have to save what is left of my savings for after graduation.
I recently threw away a bag of scrap yarn, mostly because I was trying to diminish the stash, but also because I thought it was probably stupid to save it. But now I will save it for you! You'll have a scrap afghan in no time! I'll tell my mom too!
About the yarn bee stuff: a word of warning, trying to crochet that stuff is a death wish! No matter how good you are, you will likely never be able to find your stitches. My mother and I have both sworn it off. Knitting with it is fine because the stitches are right there on your hook, and you don't have to go searching for them, but I will never crochet with fuzzy yarn. EVER!
I am definitely enjoying my knitting calender. Not every day has a great pattern, so I think at the end of every month, I will go through the patterns and throw out those that I don't like. There's no point in having a bunch of little pieces of paper around if I will never use them. I have used the calender a few times for help on my own designs. I was making a hat recently, but couldn't remember quite how to decrease for the top, so I looked through the calender and found a hat pattern that was a big help. So, yeah, I'm enjoying it.
I am getting that mag too, and I have been feeling the same way. I think the knitting mag I got comes four times a year! :( I have been just waiting by the mail box!
