Well, I think I went a little crazy with my granny square. I started with just a little bit of leftover yarn (dark multi-color) and made a square just three rows around. Then I had a slightly larger scrap ball of off-whitish yarn – that color is currently 6 rows around. So I realize that continue with this particular pattern would result in me having to have large amounts of scrap yarn. But that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
I think I’ll start another scrap afghan to incorporate a bunch of smaller squares together – more quilt-style. I will gladly accept any and all scrap yarn that anyone wants to give me. (Will you and/or your mother be at Grandma’s house for her birthday, by the way?)
I may attempt some baby booties too. They seem complicated though, but I do have almost a whole skein of blue baby yarn. Isn’t that ironic?! I never would have thought when I bought it (at least two years ago) on clearance that I’d have such a special use for it someday – my firstborn son!
Also I started making a rosary pouch today. Well that’s not what the pattern calls it, technically it’s a “stitch-marker case,” but for my purposes it’s a rosary pouch. I’m new enough at this creating thing – that each new pattern is so exciting to me! I’m bound to learn at least a new technique, if not a whole new stitch, and they always amaze me that someone was creative enough to think this up! Wow. Not me – not yet anyway. I just like following everyone else’s lead.
So do you think we’ll get to make our craft weekend a twice-a-year-event? When’s your spring break? Maybe we should encourage Grandma to come this time…
P.S. I'm extremely jealous of the size of your yarn stash! And devastated that you threw some (any) yarn out! :o)
