My Second Post of the Day!!

Hurray, I am posting for the second time today...and yes, I have a major test tomorrow, but that's besides the point.

I just had a fabulous experience. It seems that whenever I pick out a project I want to try, and I start searching for the yarn the pattern calls for I find it is WAY too expensive for my tiny little budget. Today, however, I copied three patterns out of the Spring/Summer issue of Vogue Knitting from 2006, and every one of them called for reasonably priced yarn!!! YAY!!
One is a vest that calls for Red Heart - yes that's right - Luster Sheen, which is $4.99 at Joann's. It's actually cheaper online, but after shipping it's only a 50 cent difference, which is worth not having to wait for it to arrive in the mail. Another is a beautiful capelet. This pattern calls for Southwest Trading Company bamboo, which is actually $13.00 a skein, which is expensive, I know. However, you only need two skeins, and $26.00 is totally worth this beautiful wrap, which is probably actually too complicated for me to knit. :( The last is my fav! It's an adorable dress. The pattern calls for Cascade Yarns Fixation, and we all know how much I love Cascade yarn!!! This costs $4.45 per skein, and I need 13 skeins. That totals to $64.34 with shipping. That's actually cheaper than most dresses from the store, and one this cute would probably cost $100 easy! This is fabulous. Now I can go back to studying with a smile on my face.

P.S. I didn't buy any yarn in the one hour that I spent searching out yarn online! :)

Yay for two posts in one day! I think part of the reason I have trouble spending money on yarn is also because I'm always wondering: okay, am I actually going to make this? Am I good enough to make this?

As I develop this skill, I'm sure my answer will become a resounding YES!
