My First Post

The last few days a have been babysitting a beautiful 5-year-old girl named Ellie. Her parents and older brother are currently in China picking up Ellie's new adopted sister, Annalise. Ellie is an angel, and she has shown an amazing appreciation for handknit gifts. I made her a scarf last Christmas that was a little big, but she loved just the same. This year I crocheted (I'm hoping that didn't scare away any hardcore knitting readers) a bear purse and matching headband for her. She loved them even more! Often when I am over, I bring my knitting needles and yarn. Ellie always asks me to make her something pink - socks, scarves, sweaters, hats, etc. So my next project is to knit Ellie a pink and purple scarf. Not only will this be a great gift for her, but it will be my first chance to really experiment with using more than one color in a single row. So off to my knitting books I go to learn a little bit about intarsia and fair isle. And then to create a pattern!
