This is most exciting for a number of reasons! First off because I love and treasure my cousin and am so happy to embrace anything that means increased communication with her (if only you could meet her, you would fall in love, too)! And secondly because now it gives me a different place to post about my most recent successes (or in my case failures) in the art of crochet, which I'm sure regular readers at my home blog will appreciate as few if any of them indulge in yarn crafts!
Okay here's my quick crocheting history:
My mother taught me one crochet stitch in high school, and I think I might have made one scarf. Then last year sometime I decided it was important to embrace a new craft or hobby. I looked through knitting books, basketry books, quilting books, and of course crochet books. Having a very basic understanding of crochet, the direction from those books were the only ones that made any sense whatsoever to me. So I started. I imagine I was also inspired by my aunt (who is a lovely crochet-er and should join this blog, too).
This November I asked my aunt to let me, my sister, and mother invade her home for a yarn-craft weekend! So we did! Despite morning sickness on my part, everyone had a blast! I think we all agree that we simply must do it again every year. My enthusiasm waned for awhile after this lovely weekend without my aunt's and cousin's expert advice. But right after Christmas, I picked up my Crochet for Dummies book and dived right back in.
I've been fairly consistent since then always working on something or other and learning new techniques all the while. And that's my crochet story! I'm currently working on a hat whose pattern I'm attempting to alter so that it will fit my head - as the pattern is for 4 year olds. We shall see how that goes!
