See that's the thing about being poor - the yarn you have at your disposal somewhat dictates what you can make next! I got this fancy-pants Yarn Bee yarn for 99 cents, but it's very fuzzy and somewhat difficult to work with so I kind of want to wait until I'm better.
So last night I just started fiddling around and practicing granny squares. And I must confess: I like making granny squares. I think they're fun and good practice for a novice like me! Plus you can use scrap yarn and make mini granny squares. I'm confident that someday I might have enough granny squares to make a scrap afghan!
I did bring my crochet calendar home from work. It's the pattern-a-day one. It was doing no good at work, and though I didn't like it at first, it does have a number of smaller accessory-sort of items to make. So I might look through there and find a couple of patterns for a half of skein of yarn!
I'll be sure to keep you posted if I come up with any really great patterns. How's the knitting calendar?
Post Script: I'm very eagerly awaiting the arrival of my Crochet Today magzine. It's bimonthly and I feel like it will never get here! I'm getting bored with looking at the same patterns over and over again...although if I had money for yarn there are still three or four good patterns in there I'd like to try!
This is me passing time on New Year's Eve!

Oh dear! Why are those huge spaces between my paragraphs? I didn't mean to do that!
I love the pic. I am going to ask me mom for a copy of the pic of us that weekend you came to visit, and I will put that up for the profile pic!
Yay! Good idea for the profile pic!
