Generosity

Or I could title this post "Spoiled" because that's pretty much what I am, at least in terms of how my in-laws take care of us! We went visiting on Saturday evening because we hadn't seen them for over a week (which is about as long as we usually go without seeing our parents). While we were chatting, I mentioned that I did get my magazine. I told Marie that the magazine would be absolutely perfect if I had enuogh money to do all the projects that I liked because by the time I finished all of them the next magazine would arrive! So she immediately offered to take me to JoAnn's the next day and pick out some yarn for one of the projects in my magazine! I tried to say no, but she insisted it would be fun and that she needed to go anyway.

So we went. After much hemming and hawing I decided on one project, and I picked some yarn (that was on sale) to make a blanket for Charles. Despite this insufferable cold, I started his blanket last night. And may I just tell you Elaine is is right! It is a very precious think knowing that this object you are creating is being made with love and prayers for a specific little being who has yet to take his first breath. It may be even more mind-boggling when you are that child's mother.

I thought about Charles' blanket all day long. I'm also intrigued by it because it's new technique for me (that's one of the cool things about being new at something - almost every project shows me a new stitch or style). Anyway, this technique is altering between a sc in the front loop and a sc in the back loop all the way across the blanket. It results in a sort of puffy, soft creation. I love it! And I can't wait to get back to work on it.

The weatherman is predicting blizzard-like conditions for our little city tomorrow and even the city schools have already cancelled for tomorrow. I'd love to spend my day crocheting for Charles, and I may very well take his blanket to the office with me...I don't have enough paperwork for the whole day anyway!

How fabulous! Why type of yarn did you pick out?

Simple and cheap (not as soft as I would have liked for him, truth be told..) Red Heart Super Saver

My suggestion for red heart yarn is to wash it with Downy. You will be amazed at the difference after it is washed!

I love making things for Baby Girl! I'm on my 3rd blanket for her, and I've also made her several sweaters in various sizes, and several hats. The girl is going to be well dressed! I hope I still have time to knit and crochet after she's born ;-)
