Well, I realized yesterday that maybe I should make something for my grandmother's birthday - this weekend! I pulled out a simple sock pattern and searched through my stash for some nice yarn that matched the gauge. I ended up picking out a peruvian wool yarn, Cascade 220 color 9404. I originally bought it for a wrap that I was going to wear at a Christmas party. Needless to say the wrap is not finished. It's about halfway done, but I'm not sure that I like it so I decided it would be ok to use the yarn for this project instead. I must say this is probably the most beautiful yarn I have ever owned. It is so simple, and it didn't really even catch my eye in the yarn shop. Kyle picked it out, and he did a fabulous job. Its a beautiful deep red and even the though socks are simply stockinette stitch, the yarn makes them look fancy. I can't wait to see Grandma in them.
I actually bought another Cascade yarn this weekend, Cascade 220 Superwash color 814, and I love it too. I think I am becoming a Cascade fan. The best part about this yarn is that it is machine washable wool!
It is pretty much a blizzard here. I can barely see out my window. Fortunately I am in for the day. Maybe if I'm really lucky my classes for tomorrow will be canceled! I am with you Anne, a day to knit!!!
Countdown to knit-out: 4 days!
