Tara's gifts

Well, I was very bad today and didn't do a pinch of homework, but I did finish Tara's scarf and hat!
These were made from a pattern in Stich'n Bitch Happy Hooker (I love this book!!!). The original pattern involved more colors but the same idea. It's a really interesting pattern really. At first I wasn't sure if I would like all the purple, but I do. Also, this project reminded me of a little story that I recently read in Knit Lit, a compilation of many different short stories about knitting. One of the stories was about "Free Form Knitting," which involves no gauges, no patterns, no plan at all. You just pick up your needles and yarn and let your hands do whatever they feel is right. If you want to change colors, do it - that's what reminds me of this scarf and hat. Even though I used a pattern it has a very free-form appearance, and I like it. It was fun to make!

Homework is overrated anyway! :o)

This hat and scarf look like loads of fun! There's nothing better than a homemade gift either!
